The Village of Bloomingdale Illinois sought to revitalize its downtown by updating and renovating its “Old Town” district. Lighting, signage and street amenities were part of the overall plan to make this area a focal point that would draw visitors to Bloomingdales many annual events while creating a greater sense of pride for residents of the Village.
Representatives from the Village and their consulting engineer visited Sternberg Lighting and our extensive showroom in an effort to select and view the perfect lighting equipment for their project. Designed in 2015 and constructed in the summer of 2016 this project exactly meets the design criteria and intent laid out at these early meetings.
The project consists of Sternberg’s A850SRLED historic post top luminaire mounted to a 5200 Barrington pole with plant support and banner arms as well as a recessed GFI receptacle for holiday lighting. The large arched gateway sign was designed by Sternberg to welcome residents and visitors to the “Old Town” district. The arched signage was created in conjunction with two vendor partners. 5201LED lighted bollards are also used in and around the project to give pedestrians a low level light source and to create a slightly different ambiance in small plaza areas.
Meeting the design intent of our clients is always first priority for Sternberg Lighting. We are proud to have been chosen by the Village of Bloomingdale to help create such an important project in their beautiful and historic Midwestern Village.
